19th Century Figural Mountain Sheep Horn Bowl

This is one of the ancient horn bowls from the Indigenous people of the Columbia River in the  surrounding area of Celilo Falls. This bowl has 8 small faces below the rim and a larger head on one end. The tall rectangular projections at each end have a band of chip carving near the top and a band of chip carving near their bases which travels around the bowl and the bottom of the bowl has a round design of concentric circles. There is a  very old tag on the bottom which calls the bowl a "skull basket". This is one of the classic objects from the Columbia River region.
