Pre-Columbian Veracruz Ceramic Head

Veracruz ceramic male head, with concave back, topped with a protruding low headdress painted black. Long ears with pointed lobes and a single, tube-shaped earring in one frame each side of a face with small, close-set eyes half-open beneath flat brows. A small nose sits above the open mouth, carved upper teeth painted black. A black rectangle is painted around the mouth with a pair of vertical black strokes on each side. A black horizontal stroke extends outward from each eye. The neck is broken, a large piece is missing from the headband, and one of the tubular earings is missing.
