Lower Klamath River Basket

This is a good old Northern California basket with a slightly rounded body. It has an open area of crossed warps below a wrapped rim. The basket has used a very deep red woodwardia fern in the body with bands of black maidenhair fern.The basket has a band of dark red dyed woodwardia fern at the top and the bottom of the design area on the body. The design is composed of two joined red dyed woodwardia fern parallelograms with right triangles along the sides repeated four times on a beargrass background. This is a good basket with unusually rich dark red dominating the basket. There is a gap in the wrapping on the rim where the weaver missed the area between two crossed warps.
